Why does St Francis have an auction and Gala?
This is our main fundraising event of the year. All of the proceeds from this event go into the schools operating account to help offset tuition. It costs $8000 to educate a child at St Francis and our tuition falls short of that cost. Although it is our main fundraiser of the year, our first priority is community. This evening is our chance to come together as a community and support a common goal.
How much are tickets?
Tickets cost $65 each. Your ticket includes admission, access to the live and silent auctions, appetizers, dinner, dancing and an amazing evening of fun!
Where is the auction held?
The auction is being held at The Center at 2300, 2300 Sierra Blvd, Sacramento. It is located just behind the Howe Ave/Fair Oaks Blvd junction. There is plenty of free parking at The Center for anybody wanting to drive and easy enough for UBER/LYFT or taxis to find.
What time is the Auction & Gala?
The evening runs from 5:30pm - 10:30pm.
What do I wear?
Cocktail attire. This years theme is bright and colorful, so feel free to come as brightly dressed as you want.
Can I bring a guest, who does not go to St Francis Elementary?
Absolutely! The auction and gala is a chance for us to celebrate our community.
Can I come by myself?
Yes, no need to bring a date or friend. There will be lots of people to meet during the evening.
Is there assigned seating?
Certain sponsorships and staff get reserved tables. Everybody else is free to sit wherever they like. Reserved tables will have a sign in the center of the table. Come early to get a good seat.
Can I sponsor a table by myself?
Yes, you can or if you have a group of friends you can split the sponsorship cost of the table. The fun part is coming up with a name for your table!
What is the run down for the evening?
The auction opens at 5:30pm. Guests need to check in and get their auction booklet. From 5:30pm - 7:00pm the silent auction is open for people to bid on items. The silent auction lots will all be set up on tables at the back of the room. We will also have a dessert auction with 10 desserts up for grabs. Raffle tickets for our cash raffle and keys for our circus locked box will be available for purchase. During this time guests can mingle, eat appetizers and have a drink.
Mr. Hrga opens the auction with a welcome speech and a prayer.
Guests take their seats and eat dinner. Dinner is buffet style. We do have a dessert table set up with cookies and brownies. If you won a dessert in our dessert auction, you can pick it up after dinner and share it with your table or take it home.
During dinner the raffle will be pulled and the silent auction will close. As soon as the silent auction closes the check out opens and will stay open until the end of the night. PLEASE make sure to check out at the end of the night, even if you provided a credit card at the start of the evening.
The live auction will start at 7:30pm. You can bid on an item, by holding your number up high. Your number is attached to the back of your auction booklet. Halfway through the auction we will have our Fund-A-Need. Each year we pick a big need in the school that needs extra funds. In the past we have raised money for painting a new mural in the hallway, technology and our urban garden. This year we have chosen to raise money for the stage area and the gym.
At the end of the live auction, keys will be tried in the circus locked box, to see who is the winner. Once the live auction has ended, our DJ will light up the dance floor for a good boogie. The auction and Gala closes at 10:30pm.
How does bidding work?
As soon as you check in, you will get a text/email with details of how to log into the mobile bidding site through greater giving. You can make a list of items to watch and bid on items. You will receive a text every time you have been out bid. Make sure to charge your phone, tablet or iPad before coming to the auction.
Do I have to buy something at the auction?
No! We hope you do, but your ticket price fully covers the cost of the evening.
When do I pay for items that I have won?
You will need to go through checkout at the end of the night and pick up your auction items.
What is new this year?
This year our theme is Cirque du St Francis. Imagine Cirque du Soleil with a St Francis twist. It will be a colorful evening. We have an aerial acrobat coming to do a short aerial show from the middle of the event center. She will also be going round doing parlor tricks during the appetizers and silent auction.
What kind of items are up for grabs?
We have a variety of items in our silent auction, generously donated by people in our community. Many are made up into baskets or remain as single items. It can be anything from toys and games to event tickets to food/drink or even art. The Live auction includes bigger items such as teacher experiences, class projects, vacation homes and bikes. We also have a cash raffle and a locked box with lots of goodies.
